PUMPKIN PAINTING IDEAS THAT MIGHT SUPRISE YOU
I have to admit that up until a few years ago I never would have thought that you could do anything with a pumpkin besides carving it. It’s amazing how far pumpkin decorating has come over time.
If painting pumpkins is a new concept to you, you’re in for a real treat. Here are some of the best pumpkin painting ideas I’ve found.
- White Pumpkins and Metallic Paint Magic: Give your pumpkins a modern twist by using metallic paint on white pumpkins. The contrast of the bright colors against the white canvas creates a stunning effect.
- Patterns and Stripes: Try incorporating polka dots or stripes for an added touch of whimsy.
- Mini Pumpkins and Painter’s Tape: Don’t underestimate the charm of mini pumpkins! Use painter’s tape to create clean lines and geometric patterns. This is a fantastic option if you’re short on time but still want to make a big impact.
- Real Pumpkins and Nail Polish Palette: Elevate your pumpkin painting game by using nail polish to achieve vibrant and glossy finishes on real pumpkins.
- Color Palettes: Experiment with different colors to create a unique color scheme for your Halloween decorations.
- Faux Pumpkins and Hot Glue Gun Delight: Faux pumpkins offer a great canvas for a variety of designs. Use a hot glue gun to add texture and depth to your pumpkins before painting them. This technique is an easy way to create intricate and detailed designs.
- Carved Pumpkin Ideas with Black Spray Paint: Combine pumpkin carving with painting by first carving a design and then spraying the pumpkin with black paint. The result is a spooky and eye-catching Halloween pumpkin that stands out on your front porch.
- Floral Patterns and Designs: Channel your inner artist by incorporating floral patterns into your pumpkin painting. Use acrylic craft paint to create intricate floral designs that add a touch of nature to your fall decor.
This gorgeous black painted pumpkin with faux flowers from The Merry Thought is the perfect combination of the previous fun pumpkin painting ideas. Since a hot glue gun is used I don’t recommend this project for little kids.
- Chalk Paint Elegance: Opt for a matte finish with chalk paint for a touch of elegance. This technique works well for large pumpkins and provides a sophisticated look that complements any home decor.
- Disney Pumpkins: Bring the magic of Disney to your pumpkin patch! Use acrylic craft paint to recreate your favorite Disney characters on faux pumpkins. It’s a great way to add a whimsical touch to your Halloween decorations. This full tutorial from The Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkins from JaMonkey is super cute and thorough.
- Spider Webs and Scary Pumpkin Painting Ideas: Get into the Halloween spirit by painting spooky spider webs with black acrylic paint. This is a great option for those who want to add a touch of fright to their pumpkin display.
- Painted Pumpkins in Pastel Colors: While traditional Halloween colors are typically orange, black, purple and lime green, some of my favorite colors for pumpkin painting are pastels. I love these pink, white and gold pumpkins from It’s Little Lauren on Insta.
