I was recently selected to participate in the Scribble Shop Challenge where I’m given a box of random supplies and instructions to use as many of the items as I can to create a project. The Scribble Shop is an online store that sells all of your favorite craft supplies. 75,000+ to be exact. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about! This was really exciting for me as it was my first challenge EVER! Being the simple girl that I am, I came up with something really simple that anybody to can do. But first let me show you the goods:
In my box came the following treasures:
Paisley Shape Felt Stickers
If I’m being honest I first thought “Oh shoot! What did I get myself into??” lol But that didn’t keep me from taking on the challenge and putting these items to use. And believe it or not, I did manage to use everything in the box!
I decided to take an old can of formula and dress it up. The first thing I did was trace my popsicle sticks onto the back of some scrapbook paper that I had on hand (but the Scribble Shop sells it too!) and cut them out. I used Mod Podge to glue the scrapbook paper to the popsicle sticks. Once the glue was dry, I grabbed some sand paper from the garage and sanded off the overlapping paper giving each stick a nice worn look.
Next I took my hot glue gun and started gluing the embellished popsicle sticks around the can. I added some green glass gems to the inside to weigh the can down and finished it off with some raffia for fun and some colored pencils.
Still trying to use all of the supplies in my box, I decided to create a little card for the front of the can now making this a cute teacher gift. I used my paisley stickers and some some Dress It Up embellishments to create a flower on the front of the card and used my stencil and a gold colored pencil to create a little logo ornament for the back. I finished it up with some ink along the edges to give it a bit of a distressed look and tied it on with raffia.
I really love how it came out. My girls are itching to get their hands on the colored pencils. I do have to say, I was very impressed with the colored pencils. I don’t use colored pencils often but the times that I have, they just always seemed kind of dull. These seemed very silky and smooth and the colors showed up very well. 🙂
