I’ve been tinkering around with my Cricut for a few weeks now and finally have a craft to show off. Although I love my Cricut Create, I’m kind of wishing I had gotten the Expression instead. 🙁 Maybe I’m not having as much fun because I don’t have a lot of carts to work with? So far I have Tags, Bags, Boxes and More which is great for tags but not such much bags and boxes……….unless you are making gifts for Smurfs. They kind of come out small. Ok. I’m exaggerating a bit but I think the Expression would be better for that part. I also have Opposites Attract which is font cartridge and I have Don Juan which came with the Cricut. That seems to be my cart of choice………….for now. Hoping to either pick up Design Studio or some more cartridges soon.
Alright, enough mindless chatter, let me show ya what I made. My friend’s birthday
The first thing I did was pick out my paper. I chose 5 different patterns from my scrapbook paper collection. All of my papers are 12×12 so I cut them down to 8.5×11. I then cut those in half and folded them.
Then with my Cricut (Don Juan cartridge) I cut out a bunch of “N”s in regular size and then a bunch of shadow ones so that I could layer them. If you’ve never used a Cricut before, using the shadow button just cuts out your letters, graphics, whatever, a bit bigger so that you can layer them creating a shadow.
My original idea was to make a bunch of pretty tags, put them in the “smurf” size bag and let that be her gift but when I realized I didn’t have any good ribbons for the tags, I thought of this idea instead. All that to say, the tag on the cards was made with my Cricut. I tied the cards up with some raffia just to dress them up a bit.
Lastly, I made this bag from scrapbook paper and popped the notecards in there. I did NOT use my Cricut to make this bag. I just concocted this on my own and was really happy with the results. If you would like to know how I made it, let me know and I will create a tutorial for it. 🙂
XOXO

Looks like you’re having lots of fun with it 🙂
I still haven’t played w/my Cricut too much. You’ve inspired me. I know people love it, but I’m always involved in one painting project or another. I’ve got to get into it! Thanks for inspiration.
I absolutely love the cards! I don’t have a cricut yet (I’m not much of a paper crafter) but I have been dying to borrow my neighbor’s. Thank you for the idea!
And thank you for stopping by my blog – I hope you’ll be a regular!
As soon as I saw “Cricut” in my blog roll, I had to pop on over to check out your creations. LoVe the cards! I have the Expression (since Thanksgiving) and have mainly used to it to create “monogram” projects. (picture frames, gift tags, clipboards, etc.) Keep up the creating!
Such a nice gift! I would love to see how you made the bag. Custom bags would be nice.
I love it!
Thanks for the review of Tags, Bags, Boxes, & More. I really wanted that one, but will probably wait for now.
I just got the Mother’s Day 2010 Cart – I really like it. I also got Love Struck. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but know I will have fun with it. It has the option to make cute valentine projects.
Good job on the cards – I love them!
Those cards are soooo STINKIN CUTE…I must get a cricut soon!!! I’m loving what I see here…so I’m going to follow along with you:)
Hope you have a FUN Wednesday!
Blessings,
Linda
Good to see you using that new Cricut! There is a new software out called “Make The Cut” that allows you to cut any .svg file from your computer on your Cricut. You can also cut any TrueType font from your computer on your Cricut through a USB cable. You should check it out. Much less expensive than purchasing many cartridges.
Your note cards came out great, maybe that’ll be my first Cricut project. Mine is still in the box as I continue to be intimidated by it! Have you heard about a program that’s out there that you can connect somehow with your Cricut and use all the fonts on your computer to cut out words and such?
Great idea, I love how they turned out.Your friend will love those. Isn’t the cricut great. I got the original one for Christmas but Ive only done vinyl so far. Not sure if you know but at Cricut.com they have a message board with tonnes of ideas. Ive been getting some great tips and tricks on there to try out soon. Have fun with your cricut.
Okay, now I’m really tempted to get a Cricut! I have resisted forever, but everything is so darling!
